Dysautonomia Conditions

Dysautonomia Conditions

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful condition caused by irritation of the tendons around the outside of the elbow. It’s not limited to athletes — anyone with repetitive arm or wrist use can experience it. At Sydney Neuro & Integrative Health, we look beyond the elbow joint to see how nerve pathways, muscle recruitment, and biomechanics may be contributing. Advanced neurological assessments allow us to pinpoint imbalances, so treatment is focused on restoring healthy movement and reducing pain.

Dysautonomia refers to a group of medical conditions caused by problems with the autonomic nervous system (ANS) — the part of the nervous system that controls involuntary body functions like:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Digestion
  • Temperature regulation
  • Breathing
  • Sweating

Key features:

  • It’s a dysfunction of the ANS.
  • Can affect one or multiple body systems.
  • Symptoms vary widely and may be mild or severely disabling.

Common symptoms include:

  • Lightheadedness or fainting
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Low blood pressure
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Brain fog
  • Heat intolerance

At Sydney Neuro & Integrative Health, we treat the patients with the POTS, not the POTS in the patient. Because every patient with POTS presents differently we have to determine If environmental factors, immune challenges, mitochondrial, or hormonal factors need to be addressed and treated through a functional medicine approach.

We offer many rehabilitative and non-invasive approaches to get POTS patients back to feeling lively and energetic again. Some common therapies we use in clinic are:

  1. Transauricular cutaneous vagal stimulation
  2. Autonomic biofeedback
  3. Low-level laser therapy
  4. Tilt table protocols
  5. Photo-biomodulation
  6. Chiropractic
  7. Specific compounded nutrients
  8. Detoxification, gut an immune modulating nutrition and supplementation
  9. Different breathing methods
