Post-orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a type of dysautonomia that typically does not shorten life expectancy. However, more severe dysautonomia conditions, such as familial dysautonomia or multiple systems atrophy can shorten one’s life expectancy. POTS is a condition that can affect anyone, but most commonly women aged between 15-40.
POTS is defined by an excess of 30 bpm when transitioning from supine to standing.
There are many triggers for POTS, but it seems to affect those following an infective process which has interacted poorly with their metabolic, immune and hormonal systems.
Symptoms of POTS include:
Because every patient with POTS presents differently, we have to determine if environmental factors, immune challenges, mitochondrial, or hormonal factors need to be addressed and treated through a functional medicine approach.
We offer many rehabilitative and non-invasive approaches to get POTS patients back to feeling lively and energetic again. Some common therapies we use in the clinic are:
Also known as the wandering nerve, the vagus nerve starts high in the lower brainstem and travels down to innervate the larynx, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas, spleen and gallbladder. Its major role is to promote digestion , absorption, slow down heart rate and breathing rate after a bout of physical, mental and emotional stress and contributes to the variability of the heart rate, also known as HRV. It is the parasympathetic system that dictates optimal HRV
Many inflammatory, cardiovascular, autoimmune and sleep-related disorders contribute and are also caused by very low resting vagal tone or HRV and consequently decreased parasympathetic function.
As we age, there is a relative decrease in the parasympathetic and an increase in the sympathetic tone contributing to poor sleep onset and maintenance, poor recovery after exercise, lowered digestion, absorption and detoxification.
At Sydney Neuro & Integrative Health, our POTS treatment in Maroubra focuses on improving quality of life through personalised, non-invasive therapies. Every patient’s experience with POTS is unique, so our goal is to address the root causes, including immune dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, environmental factors, and mitochondrial health. By doing so, we help restore autonomic nervous system balance and improve overall energy, mental clarity, and cardiovascular function.
Our approach integrates a combination of advanced therapies, including vagal nerve stimulation, autonomic biofeedback, tilt table protocols, low-level laser therapy, and photo-biomodulation. These therapies support the parasympathetic system, improving heart rate variability (HRV), digestion, and stress recovery. Additionally, chiropractic care (chiropractor Maroubra) and targeted nutritional interventions play a crucial role in complementing medical and rehabilitative treatments.
For patients struggling with dizziness, lightheadedness, or brain fog, combining POTS treatment near Eastern suburbs with supportive strategies such as breathing techniques, detoxification protocols, and gut-immune modulation can produce significant improvements. Moreover, those experiencing balance issues may benefit from specialised vertigo treatment near Coogee as part of a comprehensive care plan.
We believe that managing POTS requires more than symptom relief; it demands a holistic approach that enhances the body’s natural resilience. By addressing the interconnected systems of the body, we aim to reduce inflammation, optimise hormonal function, and restore vitality. Our therapies are designed to be gentle, safe, and tailored to the individual’s needs, ensuring long-term benefits rather than temporary fixes.

EXCELLENT Based on 44 reviews Posted on Google LillianTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the care, empathy, and skill Dr Yazbek has shown throughout my healing journey. From our very first session, I felt a sense of safety and attunement. He doesn’t just treat symptoms; he truly sees the person behind them. Over time, I’ve noticed profound changes in both my nervous system and overall wellbeing. My body, which once held so much tension and fear, is beginning to feel balanced, calm, and alive again. He has an incredible ability to sense what the body is communicating and to work gently yet effectively with deep neurological and emotional patterns. What stands out most is his compassion and steadiness. There’s no pressure, no rush — just a genuine commitment to helping the body find safety again. Even moments that once felt impossible to face are now becoming integrated through his thoughtful guidance and expertise. His work bridges neuroscience and deep human understanding in a way that is truly rare. I’ve had many practitioners over the years, but none who could reach this level of depth, precision, and care. I highly recommend this clinic.Posted on Google Tina HsuTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was diagnosed with myoclonus and had been seeking help for many years without success. However, after receiving treatment from Daniel, I’ve experienced significant improvement—I’m now able to breathe normally without experiencing myoclonic jerks. I have never thought it’s possible to feel better. Big thanks to Daniel!Posted on Google Franny AnnyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best Chiropractor in Sydney! The best Chiropractor neuro I know!Posted on Google Rhys ChoakeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Came across this place by chance as I was calling around to find a chiro that did TMJ adjustment as I felt my jaw was off and clicking. Daniel answered the phone and told me he did but needed to see me to find out what the problem actually was. I had a bad problem with snoring and was wearing a painful mouthguard to sleep as a bandaid fix, had constant radiating jaw aches and had a painful click when chewing. In my first consult with Daniel he gave me a very thorough assessment, identified not only the problem with my jaw but also problems with my reflexes on one side of my body from prior concussions. He gave me a TMJ realignment - which other chiros had been hesitant to touch, gave me an incredible spinal and rib readjustment and gave me some incredible exercises to better my proprioception with my tongue. I am not exaggerating when I say my snoring went away overnight. I no longer need a mouthguard to sleep and I am getting much better quality sleep than I ever have. I think the only person happier than me about this is my partner. Thanks Daniel! Anyone who has sent a sleep specialist for snoring would know how expensive it is to try and rectify a snoring issue - so Dr Yazbek's services have probably saved me thousands of dollars in treatment. I would recommend his services to anyone with an open mind that bis looking for a long term solution to their health concerns, so long as they're willing to put in the work at home.Posted on Google Richard Nassif (RN Printing)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went to see Daniel for the first time to discuss some concerns I had with my multiple sclerosis. After two sessions I was walking & moving better. I learnt more about how the condition had affected me on the first appoint than I had from 10 years of seeing Neurologists & Neurosurgeons. Daniels level of professionalism is second to none. His knowledge and expertise is unlike any Doctor I’ve encountered. His holistic approach was something I was looking for and desperately needed. I even convinced my sister to get a general check up with Daniel about her back pains. She’s feeling much better overall! I highly recommend the Chiro Hub. :)Posted on Google Adam BruceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have been seeing Dr Yazbek for a few years on and off with niggling injuries and pain. His holistic and thorough diagnostic approach is the best of any practitioner I’ve ever come across, and is focussed on understanding and resolving root cause. When you see Dr Yazbek, you’re getting much more than just a chiro, you’re getting a well rounded medical practitioner, and a genuine ally in your health and recovery. Will definitely keep going back as needed.Posted on Google Odilon FariaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Yazbek is amazing!
